Annual General Meeting Report

Last night the club held its Annual General Meeting to a group of around 20 members and 3 guests.  After formally opening the meeting, the Secretary, Tony Britton, reported on a good year for the club with fluctuations in membership numbers; a summary of the summer events and the President’s Evning held at The Town Hall. He thanked the officers and committee members for their hard work and for members their continued support.  The Treasurer, Richard Heywood, then presented his report and the accounts.

Chairman, Bette Delling, continued with her summary of the events from the past year, highlighting good attendances at some meetings; the coach trips during the summer and the very sad loss of long term member and former committee member, Ray Perry.

In the President’s Response, Dennis Knowles, also summarised the year’s events from his point of view and he thanked members, without whom, there would not be a club.  He asked for ideas for future events.

The meeting continued with the election of officers.  After some discussion as to the structure of the committee, the new officers and committee were elected for the forthcoming year.  These are listed on the Committee page of this blog.

The meeting concluded with “Any Other Business” where the Chairman asked for ideas for a summer programme and ideas for subjects for next season’s competitions.  Subscriptions were agreed to stay at the same level as previous pro-rata’d for new members.

Morocco and more by Fred & Deirdre Willetts

Club Members Fred & Deirdre Willetts took members on a journey at last night’s meeting.  In the first half, they showed images from their trip to Morocco.  A colourful and cultural view of the cities and countryside of this north African country.  Mosques and medinas were highlighted with a personal commentry of what they had encountered on their journey.

After refreshments, Fred showed two digital AV sequences.  First was a trip to the other side of Ibiza, a quiet and relaxed set of landscapes and seascapes.  This was followed by a completely different topic of the BMAD motorcycle gatherings on Paignton sea front.  The evening ended with a whistle stop tour of China.  Another cultural journey with temples and oriental vistas.

The chairman, Bette Delling, thanked Fred and Deirdre for taking members a few thousand miles around the world in a couple of hours.
