In pursuit of the Improbable by Stephen Powles

The guest speaker at last week’s meeting was Stephen Powles from Withleigh who showed his remote techniques in wildlife photography in pursuit of the improbable. Since last visiting the club as a member 23 years ago Stephen explained that his photography is now more serious and he has a better understanding of what he wants from his results.

He showed the how he uses remote electronics in the form of remote triggers, infrared sensors and radio control remote video to help capture rare shots of owls, badgers, otters, roe deer, wood mice, a heron and a buzzard all taken near his home. He explained that wildlife photography required a good knowledge of the habit that the wildlife you were trying to capture. He showed some of his beautifully captured images intermixed with short videos taken mostly at night.

Chairman, Bette Delling thanked Stephen for sharing his techniques and showing some stunning wildlife images.
